When names were being put forward for the bridge which will lead to England's all new Wembley Stadium, 1966 World Cup heroes such as Geoff Hurst and Bobby Charlton surfaced.
The London Development Agency thought it would be a good idea to run an online competition to find out what fans wanted the bridge to be called, but hundreds of Germans have registered for it to be called 'The Dietmar Hamann bridge'. Liverpool midfielder Hamann scored the final goal at Wembley in Germany's 1-0 win over England during a World Cup qualifier back in October 2000. | |
